Private Scholarships

PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS

The following Scholarships will be awarded to students participating in the ACHIEVERS Program.   Additional student requirements are:

  • The student is deemed to be in financial need.
  • The student has been accepted to an accredited post secondary school and/or to an accredited college and/or university.
  • The student has demonstrated positive engagement in community service.
  • The student agrees to mentor a child in the future.

Rev. Doctor Anderson Clifford Epps, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

As a memorial to Rev. Doctor A.C. Epps, Jr. (1918-2000), a minister and an educator, Delories Epps Horton offers a scholarship of $500.00 to a graduating senior girl who has demonstrated a superior intellect, enthusiasm and love for history.

Maudie C. Calhoun Boykin Memorial Scholarship

In memory of her beloved mother, Maudie C. Calhoun Boykin (1925-1997) who was a guiding light and inspiration to her family, Earnestine D. Pittman offers a scholarship of $500.00 to a graduating senior girl who has demonstrated superior mathematical skills and who desires to be an educator.

LTC Craig Wayne Finley Memorial Scholarship

Sarah Maude Merritt Finley, in loving memory of her late husband, LTC Craig Wayne Finley (09/19/1946 – 11/24/2007), initially offered two scholarships in the amount of $1000.00  and subsequently offers a $500.00 scholarship to deserving students who demonstrate proficiency in science and/or math and who desire to have careers requiring proficiency in science and/or math. To qualify – an applicant must be in financial need; must be accepted to an accredited post secondary school, college and/or university; must have demonstrated positive engagement in community service and must agree to mentor a child in the future.

Amanda Putman Dearing Scholarship

In recognition of her mother as her first role model, motivator, and teacher, Ernestine Dearing Hogan offers a $500.00 scholarship award to a graduating senior who has an accumulative grade point average of 3.0+; who demonstrates superior character and worthy service; and who desires to pursue a career in education.

Josh Lee Patton Scholarship (No Longer Available)

In recognition of the many female employees who have shown a desire to better themselves, East Point businessman Josh Lee Patton offers a $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating female student who has demonstrated a passion for becoming an entrepreneur.
