Sponsor – The Friends for Life Foundation, Inc. (501 C (3) organization founded by Phi Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Society, Inc.)

June 12, 2017: Grant awarded to E.D. Cubed, Inc. Achievers Program for Girls

February 24, 2018: Grant awarded to E.D. Cubed, Inc. Achievers Program for Girls

Sponsors have provided payment for:

  • Materials used in meetings with the Achievers including meetings with their parents/guardians.
  • Workshop facilitators and materials used or distributed in workshops.
  • Achievers Program T-Shirts.
  • Transportation and meals for field trips and college tours (including Boule AKA College Expos, plays, and teaching movies).
  • Celebratory materials and reinforcement gift cards.
  • Tutorial materials, books and workbooks regarding life skills enhancement (“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey & “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Personal Workbook” by Sean Covey), and college planners (Example: “Get it together for College” by the CollegeBoard).

 OTHER NOTABLE EVENTS

July 11, 2009 – The Achievers went on a field trip to view the ‘America I Am Exhibit’ at the Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

April 2, 2010 – The Achievers attended the drama, “The Bluest Eye”, at Spelman College. The play was directed by the renowned Jasmine Guy, who took a picture with the Achievers following the performance.

April 3, 2010 – Ms. Marcia Ford, Certified Nurse Midwife specialist in East Point, Georgia, conducted a workshop for the Achievers at which she explained very thoroughly (using herself and her life as an examples,  that a young lady who wants to accomplish career goals MUST take care of her body and mind to attain her goal. She discussed sexually transmitted diseases and infections in great detail and indicated that abstinence is the best form of protection and birth control. She also did an excellent job in entertaining and answering the Achievers’ questions.

July 9, 2011 – The Achievers visited the Georgia Aquarian in Atlanta, Georgia.

January 2013 – The name of the Achievers Program was changed to the Achievers Program for girls.

March 21, 2015 –The Honorable Judge Pro Tempore Ruby J. Thomas spoke with the Achievers. Judge Thomas’ informative life skills remarks, which were ‘on point’ with current events, were well received by the Achievers, who learned how to avoid having to dealing with law enforcement, how to deal with law enforcement personnel – should the occasion arise, how to avoid getting shot by law enforcement personnel, and how to act in court (what to say and do in court as well as what to avoid saying and doing in court).

May 23, 2015 – The Achievers went on a field trip to the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia.

July 9, 2016 – The Achievers attended the HBCU Expo presented by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Boule at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

September 2016 – The Achievers went on a college tour to Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.

October 15, 2016 – The Achievers went on a college tour to Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.

May 12, 2017 – The following Achievers were honored at the Tri-Cities high School Visions Ceremony: Destyne Jones was acknowledged for being a recipient of the Fulton County Honor Key. Kadija Sidibeh was acknowledged for her membership in the National Spanish Honor Society and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Charli Vicks was acknowledged for her membership in the National Marketing/Deca Honor Society and the National Future Business Leaders of America Honor Society. Emaje’ Robinson was acknowledged for being a recipient of the Fulton County Honor Key and a member of National Marketing/Deca Honor Society.
